形形声 · 一半意思一半读音
「方」表音，「攵」——一只拿着棍子的手——表示动作：赶开，放走。「放」是放下（放在桌子上），是释放，是播放（放音乐），「放假」是学校或公司把你放走——假期。「离放假还有两个多月呢！」是十月之前那段长路上，中国每一个办公室的句子。

一个人「亻」站在「叚」旁边——「叚」是借：借来的不是真正属于你的——假的，读 jiǎ。读 jià 是借来的时间——假期：放假、请假、暑假。同一个字，管着一个仿冒包的「假」，也管着周五下午的「假」。

一个两腿交叉站着的人——最早的「交」就是一个小腿交叉的人形。交叉变成了相遇和交换：「交朋友」是交朋友，「交钱」是把钱交出去，「公交车」是公共交通的车——载着全城人穿过城市的车。「坐公交车要一个多小时呢。」
