繁体的「習」是一双翅膀「羽」压在一个小身子上：一只雏鸟一遍一遍地拍，直到飞起来。简体的「习」留下了一只翅膀。练习就是反复地拍——「学习」是学，「复习」是再过一遍，「习惯」是你已经不再注意的那一下拍打。「学习学习汉语」——再拍几下。

冫表意ice — two strokes; in the old form 水, water隼表音sǔn → zhǔn — a falcon准

老的「準」是水「水」加一只隼「隼」：水是平的，隼飞得准——准确，标准。「准」是准确（时间很准），也是允许（不准抽烟）。「准备」把它和「备」——备齐——配在一起：准准地准备好。「准备准备明天吃的东西」——把明天排好。
