动量补语「次」— 我吃过一次鸡爪、我去过长城一次
你吃过几次火锅？——我吃过两次。 次 counts the times; where it sits depends on what comes after — a thing, a place, or a person.

to praise; to exaggerate
会two ideas joined
大, big, over a sound part: to make something big with words — to boast, and, said of someone else, to praise. 夸 is to praise, 夸奖 the fuller word, and 夸张 is exaggeration. 你妈妈夸过你几次？ asks how often the words were made big for you.
to hit; to do (many things)
形meaning + sound
A hand 扌 and 丁 for the sound: to strike. From hitting, 打 spread to a hundred actions the hand does — 打电话 make a call, 打车 hail a taxi, 打游戏 play games, 打麻将 play mahjong, 打篮球 play basketball. 妈妈打过我很多次 uses the original meaning; the rest of your week uses the others.
neighbour
形meaning + sound
令 for the sound and 阝, the town radical, on the right: the people who live next to you in the settlement. 邻居 is a neighbour, 邻近 is nearby. 你投诉过你的邻居几次？ — the deck's last, very modern question. In old China 邻 was five households; today it is the family above you with the loud television.
