我比你跑得快 or 我跑得比你快: comparing how something is done, 比 and 得 work together — the 比 phrase sits before the verb or after 得.

to run
形meaning + sound
A foot 足 and 包 for the sound — you met 包 as the bag; here it only lends its voice. 跑 is to run, 跑步 is running as exercise, and 我比你跑得快 is the boast the deck lets you make. 跑 also means to run off: 他跑了, he's gone.
to ride (astride)
形meaning + sound
A horse 马 and 奇 for the sound: to sit astride. You ride a horse with it — 骑马 — and, because the posture is the same, a bicycle and a motorbike: 骑自行车, 骑摩托车. Cars and buses you 坐 or 开; anything you straddle you 骑. 我骑自行车骑得比你快.

A person with long hair streaming — the oldest 长 is an old man, hair and beard grown long, sometimes leaning on a stick. Read cháng it is long — 长城, the Long Wall; read zhǎng it is to grow, and so 长得高 is 'has grown tall', 长得帅 'has grown handsome'. 荷兰人比中国人长得高 — grown taller. One picture, two readings, both about length.

- Compare yourself with your best friend in five verbs — run, sing, cook, sleep, earn — and say each sentence both ways. The two shapes should feel identical by the fifth.
- Keep the boasts small: 好一点儿 rather than 好得多. Chinese comparison is a game you win by sounding modest.
- Notice how far you have come: 比 (1) compared things, 得 judged actions, and today they joined hands. HSK2 grammar is starting to combine — that is what fluency is made of.
